Business Objects acquires Blue Edge

Blue Edge Software, a privately held software company based in Leeds, England, has been acquired by Business Objects, a French company with U.S. headquarters in San Jose.

Blue Edge develops and markets applications based on Business Objects software that specialize in Web-based information delivery.

"The acquisition of Blue Edge Software is an important step in our vision to provide `information democracy' to corporations, institutions, and consumers," says Bernard Liautaud, CEO of Business Objects.

The acquisition is a cash transaction of approximately $6 million, Business Objects says.
